How Dermaplaning Works
A sterile blade is drawn across the skin at a shallow angle, lifting away the outermost layer of dead cells along with the fine vellus hair that traps oil and product.
Removing that layer does two things: skin reflects light more evenly, and topical products penetrate better because there is no longer a barrier of dead cells and hair in the way.

What to Expect
The treatment takes about 30 minutes. Skin is cleansed and dried, then your provider works section by section with the blade. It is painless and most patients describe it as a light scratching sensation.

Aftercare
There is no downtime. Some patients have mild redness for an hour. Use sun protection, since freshly exfoliated skin is more sensitive, and hold off on retinoids and acids for a couple of days.

Will my hair grow back thicker?
No. Dermaplaning removes fine vellus hair at the surface without affecting the follicle, so it grows back exactly as it was. The blunt edge can feel different for a day or two, which is where the myth comes from.

Can it be combined with other treatments?
