What will my Kybella® treatment be like?

Kybella® should only be injected by a trained medical professional. Review your medical history with your practitioner before beginning treatment. You should not receive Kybella® injections if you:

  • Have an infection at the treatment site
  • Are pregnant or planning to become pregnant
  • Are breastfeeding or planning to breastfeed
  • Have a bleeding disorder or are taking blood thinners
  • Have medical conditions or recent surgery on the face, neck, or chin
  • Have trouble swallowing

A Kybella® treatment session only takes 15-20 minutes. You may receive up to six treatment sessions to gain your desired silhouette. Kybella® treatments should be given at least one month apart.

What are Kybella®’s side effects?

The most common side effects of Kybella® are swelling, pain, numbness, redness, and hard areas at the treatment sites. Some rare, but severe side effects that are possible with Kybella® treatments are:

  • Nerve injury in the jaw
  • Trouble swallowing
  • Necrosis at the injection sites
  • Open sores at the injection sites

If you experience any of these more severe side effects after a Kybella® treatment, contact your doctor immediately.

How long will I need to recover?

Since Kybella® is a non-invasive procedure, you can get back to your life quickly, in some cases even the same day. All side effects should resolve within a few days, giving you plenty of time to admire your new neckline before your next treatment.
