Contour Threads
Lifts and tightens the skin of the face, brow or neck.

After Contour Threads
Contour Threads are conventional sutures that have tiny barbs, or cogs, that are spaced evenly apart. Once inserted under the skin, they open in an umbrella like fashion, which lifts and tightens the skin of the face, brow or neck. Once in position, your body generates new collagen bundles that surround each thread to maintain the lifting effect.
How long does the procedure take?
A typical procedure usually takes 60 minutes to perform. The actual length of time will depend upon the number of threads used.
Will I require general anesthesia?
No. This procedure can be performed under local anesthetic. Much like going to the dentist’s office, the physician will numb the skin with an injection. No sedation is required, but is available if the patient chooses.
How long is the recovery?
In most cases, patients are able to resume daily activities, including work, the very next day, if desired. There may be some mild bruising and swelling, so some patients may elect to rest for a few days.
How long do the results last?
One study demonstrated that after three years, 80% of patients still showed improvement. Additional sutures can always be placed to maintain the results, if desired. By way of comparison, surgical face lifts generally last 5-7 years.
What is the advantage of Contour Threads compared to a traditional surgical face lift?
There is no cutting. There are no scars. Recovery time is days compared to weeks. The lift has a more natural look compared to a surgical face lift. Additionally, there is no risk of injury to nerves.
What are the possible side effects?
Side effects may include mild bruising and swelling, which is lessen with the use of Bromelain and Arnica Montana. Some patients experience mild discomfort, which can easily be treated with Tylenol or Advil.
