What are Bio-Identical Hormones?
Bio-Identical Hormones are manufactured by a pharmacy to have the same molecular structure as the hormones made in your own body. The goals of BioIdentical Hormones are to alleviate the symptoms caused by decreased hormone production and to bring the body back to hormonal balance, by adding them to your own ones. By contrast, synthetic hormones are intentionally different. Since drug companies are unable to patent a bio-identical structure they invent synthetic hormones including Premarin, Prempro, and Provera which can lead to dangerous side effects. Synthetic hormones are dosed in a ‘one-size-fits-all’ manner where, on the other hand, Bio-Idneticals are individually dosed.
